Al Safi-Danone, Serving the Community

Al Safi-Danone has always been conscious of the need to serve the Saudi community by joining the social and charitable programs, in order to have a better standard of living. We worked towards achieving our goals through several programs:

1. Year 2006, To establish the Al Safi-Danone center for kidney’s dialysis, in Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz (center, Al Kharj region, at a total estimated cost of SR8 million.

2. Year 2001, To support the Handicapped Children’s Association, through the handicap bail program, at a total yearly cost of SR1.4 million.

3. Year 2003, Sign an agreement with Prince Salman’s center for handicap research, at an amount of SR5 million to support the center for five years, as well as cooperating with the center to organize a general awareness campaign under the motto of: “together for healthier generations, with Gods help.” To understand the Down-Syndrome & handicap issues in KSA, the ability to reduce its effects and to promote the Center’s efforts, goals and achievements. The campaign also included messages that motivated the public to participate in supporting the center

4. Al Safi-Danone did not limit its efforts to these programs, it surpassed them to include monetary and symbolic charity. For Example, Al Safi-Danone donated SR 100,000 to each of the programs of ethical learning at Ohud School in Hael and Buraidah School.

 At the international level, the company’s donations included the following countries:

•  One million liters of long life milk to the Muslims of Bosnia & Herzegovina.

•  One million liters of long life milk to the Muslims of Chechnya.

•  300,000 liters of long life milk to the people of Palestine, in Palestine.

• One million liters of long life milk to the people of Kosovo, through the Co-Saudi Committee to help Kosovo’s people.

•  The company has also donated long life milk products to the Iraqi people.

•  Other quantities were donated to the people in Darfur, Sudan republic.

•  A symbolic donation of SR 500,000 of company products to the victims of the Tsunami.

 Al Safi-Danone Friends of the Environment Club:

Since the environment is vital to the human life, and essential for its continuity, Al Safi-Danone has given due attention to environmental issues. We have done this by spreading and growing awareness on the environment to both the citizens and expatriates, especially those in urban areas. We have also concentrated rooting this understanding in the new generation, guiding them in the proper ways to keep it safe & healthy.

The total spending of the club, since its establishment, has surpassed SR18million. Furthermore, over 6555 tons of wastes were gathered and 15,400 tons of constructional residues, through previous campaigns, were dealt with. The company has also won the following awards:

• The GCC Council award for Best Environmental Awareness Program for the year 2000 & 2001.

• The Social Service Prize for Construction in the Environmental Domain, which was organized by the Commercial & Industrial Chamber of Commerce in Riyadh, for the year 2004.
